Relay for Life

Yet again Rosalie has marshalled the troops through the devious means of stockwhips and thin bamboo rods. So we all assembled at the Bicentennial Centre to walk the walk

A lineup of all those who have had first hand experience of survivng cancer. Ready!

The track's been marked out and tents and pavillions line the walk as teams prepare themselves for the 24 hour relay. Set!

The ribbon is lowered and the first lap is walked. As they come back to the starting point, all others can join in, and it is expected that there will be someone on the track doing laps right throughout the night. GO!

Here's Rosalie's Celebration of Life team getting rid of all their hot air. Maybe we should have gone to the Met Office and scrounged a Met balloon!

Lou Tavener. What a gal. The organisation of this event was second to none, as we have come to expect whenever Lou puts her hand to anything

Aah. JoyJoy busily assisting us all in the erection and preparation of our nest.

Later than evening, at around 6pm, Duane and Saz joined the team and started walking. They walker for four and a half hours until 10.30 pm, fully expecting someone to come along and relieve them. Unfortunately they weren't there (Duane was working), when it was decided that we wouldn't walk a full relay, but would walk as and when each individual was able to. They both suffered injury, Duane to his knee and Saz to her ankle, but the effort they put into the Relay was absolutely wonderful. Huge thanks you two.

The following are Saz's photos -

Olly, Mitch and Sharyn's dog, enjoying the occasion

Rozzie's tent and the diehards, sheltering from the pouring rain

The next door tenters, making the best of a wet afternoon, and thoroughly enjoying themselves

Saz and Duane taking a photo late in the evening as they are walking on the track

Wael dan orl aklan, but particularly these two.
