Sharyn had a great idea. She would paint the new cladding on Lorilea. Hah. Top idea. I'm in. So down I drove to Ball Bay to lend her a little expertise and professionalism and as I parked my car, I saw ~ maybe for the first time, it's only been there since before I was born! ~ the old shed. It's falling down now but I remember the good old days when it held my Grandfather's sea chest with pieces of tortoise shell (he used to make jewellery out of them, with inlaid silver ~ beautiful but we played with them and lost them of course); bottles of whale oil; patterns for boats and canoe's, old copper nails, axes we weren't allowed to touch (but did anyway) and a million other things. I took a photo and one day ~ the great one day ~ I'm going to draw or paint it!

Enough of that. Back to painting. Here is Shaz putting her back into rolling the paint on. As you can see it's an older style house ~ built by my grandfather in 1936 actually ~ so walls are high and the roof is higher. You need serious stamina to paint this!
A little time out whilst Shaz poses for the camera to record the event. Truly blogworthy.
Oh yeah. Number One Son ~ who was a professional painter in his last career ~ was cajolled to paint the high bits. And as I said, I mean seriously high. He's about 4 metres (or 12 feet in my language) above the ground on a thin piece of timber, rolling and singing. Yep. We were VERY pleased to have him. Job well done kiddies. (What do you mean there's no photo of me! I was working too darned hard!)
