Great Occasions and Celebrations

The Divine David decided that as Chelsea turned 21 last November, and Ian turned 50 last December, and they are both on Norfolk Island this week, they should enjoy some sort of celebration with their friends for their personal milestones. So he started organising and in the process talked to Aaron Buffett, David Biggs, Sam Sheridan, Sput Douran, Trent Christian and James Partridge. He had James come to Flagstaff for a beast which was then returned as beef. David donated 20 kilos of fish. Sam cooked the fish and chips in his travelling kitchen. Sput looked after the beef which was roasted over a spit. Trent provided the sound gear and excellent music and Aaron and Dids arranged everything else. Dids put a notice on Radio Norfolk inviting everyone to Kingston to the Compound at 5pm then went to Flagstaff at 8am that morning to tell Chelsea to listen to the radio!!!! Later he went to Ian's and told him also!!!! What a man. The organisation was fantastic and the night was incredible. Of course, I couldn't find my camera but Megan Fitz sent me these from off her phone. Aah, the miracles of modern technology.

Gorgeous photo of Chelsea and her Daddy. So she should adore him too, he organised an absolutely fantastic evening.

The cake was huge ~ chocolate sponge with cream icing ~ many compliments were received and much cake was eaten. Well done Hot Crust.

Chelsea and Grin cutting the cake and posing for pics.

Chelsea and Dids with his favourite girl, Amber Biggs who we must say, had an absolute ball at the party

Daddy and Daughter again, getting along like a house on fire.

Chels dragging Grin over to the cake so that they can cut it together. Amber just checking to see whether she could cut it better than the two of them. Probably can! A great evening with great friends.

This message was intended for The Norfolk Islander today but didn't quite make it. Next week with a bit of luck.

HUGE THANK YOU
To my Dad, Dids Evans for the fantastic 21st evening. Great family, friends and food has already made it a fantastic memory. Thanks Dad and thanks to all the men who helped you, Aaron Buffett, David Biggs, Trent Christian, Sput Douran, Sam Sheridan, James Partiridge and Michael Prentice. Big thanks also to the wonderful people who helped to make this night so special.

A long way from home...

Is Jai, having flown in from Brisbane. I visited his grandparents the other day to get a photo to blog and then couldn't find my camera. The little sod called out "Gaysie, look at this!" He then ran up the steep slope to the house and did a backward flip down the hill. I almost swallowed my own heart and the creature child just laughed and laughed. I told him to wait until his Mother gets here!

Later on I found the camera ~ on the back seat of my car ~ and took a shot of the creature child trying desperately to look innocent!

Here he is again, proving to Big Pop that he's a delightful child! These two are great grandfather and great grandson with years ranging from 9 to 90! Some feat.

Afternoon Tea at Flagstaff

Saz's parents are on Island so she and Charms, their parents, their grandmother and their cousin came to Flagstaff for afternoon Tea. Kirsti and I worked together for some time at Admin, so I'm not too sure how the others got on but she and I talked and talked, and I had a wonderful time. I think I'll have more afternoon teas.

Sarah brought with her a beautiful bouquet. I think it looks stunning with the dark blue lisianthas ~ no, don't bother to tell me that I've spelt it incorrectly ~ in my dark blue vase.

Tricia and Charms, enjoying a private moment of caring and laughter

Duane and Saz are sharing a private joke ~ probably at us!

Carmen by the Christmas Tree polishing off Christmas delicacies that her sister made

Angelique enjoying a private chat with her Uncle John

and then with her Aunt Tricia

Hope you had as enjoyable an afternoon as I did!

Happy New Year 2012

The Divine David and I passed New Years Eve at Norfolk Blue Restaurant. The food was wonderful and Rick Robertson entertained with great music, backed by Pendo. Sharyn and Mitch were there with a table that Joel Quintal had asked Sharyn to arrange for his wife Sammy's birthday, so there were many friends gathered in the small space and much laughter. Naturally, I didn't take a camera!!! What can I say. Sarah took a couple of shots on her camera. Let's see if I can get them out of her!

Anyway, we're into the New Year and I called down the next day to visit Dad. Gloomy, wet, miserable (not Dad ~ the weather) so he and I went on border patrol. Again, I didn't have a camera but later that afternoon, following my Norf'k Language Workshop, Chelsea and I retraced my earlier drive so I can update the blog. Not much to see bat baeta den nathen. Bit of a giggle really.

Dad and I had called in to visit Vonnie. We thought two visits in one day might be a bit of a shock, so Chels took a photo of Vonnie's front fence!

This is her driveway. The whole garden, the house, the fence is absolutely amazing. This photo doesn't do it justice at all. We'll go back one day and take a photo of Vonnie and Dad, and her favourite singing cow.

Continuing on I wanted a photo of the German cruise ship, anchored off Cascade. Dad and I had spotted a top view from Prince Philip Drive but when Chels and I went back, the ship had sailed. Darn. So she took a shot inland of the hills and homes.

Further along and a flowering red gum caught our eyes. Maybe we are now playing.

Down the slippery, slidy road to Cockpit. For some it might seem dangerous but hey, we live at Flagstaff!

Chels is now being artistic. See the oak growing out of the butt of an old pine tree.

The artistic bent still a happening thing. The creek at cockpit running over the rocks. Pretty.

Along Cascade Road and Chels spotted mushrooms by the roadside. Ai nor thort Brada.

Toadstools near gate and a long line of cars trying to pass us. Snap happy tourists they probably thought. Well tough. We're allowed to aata orn auwas Ailen.

Heading home and ah ha. There's the ship off Kingston. Took a snap from Lizzie's Lookout.

Drove on down to the beach and took another shot into the setting sun. The afternoon was overcast and misty and I was still disappointed because she looked so small from Kingston and had looked so large from Prince Philip Drive. Oh well. Another day, another cruise ship. This will 'learn me a lesson' for not having my camera!

Sailing between the two outer Islands as she heads on to New Zealand.

Hang on. Let me zoom in so that you can see her.

Happy New Year Yorlyi! May it be blessed with good health and happiness.
