MotorX Exhibition at Bicentennial Centre

Last Friday night two young lads came over from New Zealand to perform an FMX MotorX exhibition behind Rawson Hall. Evidently these young professionals are friends of Koota's and they brought their bikes to Norfolk to raise money for the Junior Leagues Club. It is said that over 1290 tickets were sold at $20 each, but I can't remember that number being there. However, there was a drinks tent and Naomi had a food tent, catered by The Olive. The entire area was surrounded by a hastily erected hessian fence with the entry gates down by the A & H Hall. Many people were there with chairs and picnic blankets, and the kids were running wild and generally having a wonderful time.

I was using Dids's camera and although it is a great little number, it really didn't stand a chance taking shots of the lads on their bikes. Here you'll see a very blurred motorbike ascending the man made hill.

A different shot this time, but still of a very blurry bike. Unfortunately none of the photos I took of the bikes in the air, were able to be used. It's definately the camera. Certainly not the photographer.

The motorbikes are on top of the mound, preparing for another spectacular jump.

Cane Henderson also gave a display of how to use a bobcat. His timing was exquisite and his demo, very clever. He had the bobcat on the two front wheels, doing wheelies in the dirt, then uphill, downhill and generally, all over the place. What an amazing man.

Some of Chelsea's friends came to join us. Here's Rikki, Chel, Mitch and Bomber. So great to see all these sweet young things at home for Christmas. We don't know how much we miss them until they came back. En noisy! Wussan dem baik!

A photo of the jeep that was driven to the top of the mound. When I say "mound of dirt" it was probably thirty to forty feet off the ground. The lads would drive at a makeshift ramp to get high enough, then would somersalt in midair, whilst handling the bikes, and bringing them back to earth. My breath literally stopped in my mouth on several occasions, much to the amusement of Sharyn and Chelsea. Hmmm. Thanks. Alot. A fantastic exhibition. Huge thanks to Koota for bringing them here; huge thanks to them for coming; and also to Teddy Evans and Brandt McRitchie for compering and Trent for being DJ. Great night!
